NIRF 2019 RANKINGS – ENGINEERING INSTITUTIONS

SUMMARY ANALYSIS OF NIRF2019 FOR ENGINEERING COLLEGES

The First-cut Analysis for Engineering Institutions in NIRF 2019 Ranking is as follows.

  1. A Total of 969 Engineering Institutions Participated
  2. Institutions were ranked basis their performance and Top 200 Ranks were published.
    • South Region = 49%
    • East Region = 14%
    • North Region = 20%
    • West Region = 18%
  3. The Ratio of Public to Private is as follows
    • Top 100 Ranks = 67 Public : 33 Private
    • 101-200 Ranks = 23 Public : 77 Private
  4. A Total of 58 Institutions have DROPPED Ranks
    • DROPPED = 2019 Rank is lower than 2018 Rank
    • 29 Public : 29 Private
  5. A Total of 33 Institutions have GAINED Ranks
    • GAINED = 2019 Rank is higher than 2018 Rank
    • 29 Public : 4 Private
  6. A Total of 10 New Institutions entered the Top 100 Ranks in NIRF2019
    • 5 of these moved their ranks from 100+ Rank in NIRF2018 to <100 Ranks in NIRF2019
      • 1 Public : 4 Private
    • 5 of these participated in NIRF for the first time in 2019
      • 4 Public : 1 Private
  7. Only 9 Institutions could RETAIN their Ranks
    • RETAIN = 2019 Rank is same as 2018 Rank
    • 8 Public : 1 Private
  8. Understanding Scores
    • Total Score of Rank 1 Institution = 89.05
    • Total Score of Rank 10 Institution = 61.62
    • Total Score of Rank 50 Institution = 45.75
    • The Score of Rank 100 Institution = 35.86
    • This indicates that the climb for the Institutions towards the Top 50 Ranks is steep and the difficulty only increases further as it moves to Top 10.

AREAS & THEIR WEIGHTAGES:

TLR = Teaching, Learning & Resources
RPC = Research & Professional Practice
GO = Graduate Outcome
OI = Outreach & Inclusivity
PR = Perception

Weightage for each area is as follows:
TLR = 30%
RPC = 30%
GO = 20%
OI = 10%
PR = 10%

You can see that RPC (Research) and PR (Perception) has highest influence on the Ranks.

OI (Outreach) has lowest influence on the Ranks.

TLR (Teaching & Learning Resources) and GO (Graduate Outcome) has medium influence on the Ranks.
